The Process

Introduce your female to our stud male, for her first service, then, 2 weeks later, check if she is pregnant - the "Spit Off" test. If your female spits, she is most likely to be pregnant - you will need to confirm this by ultrasound with your vet (recommended at 45-60 days). If your female sits, we will re-mate her at that time. We will repeat this process, providing 3 matings in total, for each female.

Fees

Sonric Suri Alpacas offer discounts on the Stud Service Fee for multiple matings. Full fees apply for the first two matings, then 10% discount for each one thereafter, for bookings made within an 11 month period.

Due to the rising transportation costs, we have chosen to restructure our fees to be fairer and more transparent. This offers you the ability to vary the fees according to your needs/situation and makes it clear as to what you are paying for.

Our fees are now structured as follows:

• Stud Service Fee          per listing
• Travel Fee                     $1.50 per km from Tauranga (subject to change)
• (or) Agistment Fee (boarding at Sonric)       $1.50 per day (subject to change)

 

Example 1:     Customer, living 100km from Tauranga –

• Stud Fee               $  750
• Travel 1st visit      $  150

• Travel 2nd visit     $  150
• Travel 3rd visit      $  150

If customer has their own spit off male then they could save on not requiring the 2nd and/or 3rd visit

Example 2:     Customer with 4 females requiring service, living 100km from Tauranga –

• Stud Fee
  • 1st Female          $750
  • 2nd Female         $750
  • 3rd Female          $675
  • 4th Female          $675

• Travel 1st visit      $  150

• Travel 2nd visit     $  150
• Travel 3rd visit      $  150

Terms

Deposit 25% at booking, balance, for each mating, to be paid at time of final “Spit off” for that mating.

Commentary:
Casino has started working this season. He has been very successful in getting our girls pregnant. Casino has amazing fleece stats and the most “gentlemanly” nature. We are expecting awesome progeny next spring.
Casino has been G.I.F.T. tested and was analysed as follows:
“The average ‘across sample’ SD is 3.48 microns. This is well below the average for alpacas. This alpaca is considered to have very low degree of variation in fibres and therefore, very low incidence of coarse fibres. This alpaca is considered superior for breeding towards reducing the incidence of coarse fibres… This alpaca is considered superior for breeding towards premium fleece."

Commentary:
Bomb's fleece has beautiful locking, stunning luster, beautiful feel and handle. He has won many championship ribbons for both his fleece and breed.

Bombastic's breeding is from well known champions in their own right. Bomb's first few fleeces were exceptional and won him a number of awards.
For us Bomb has introduced excellent fibre characteristics to our herd - fineness, decreasing SD, high comfort factors, lustre and beautiful handle.

Bomb appears to produce a greater number of female than male progeny; we have had a high ratio of females from him - 17 females and 5 boys (as at 25 May 2011).
